Japan-A-Radio plays music from Japan's top charts, as well as from Anime Soundtracks, Video Game
Soundtracks, J-POP albums, and more. Only a very partial list of music we play is from such anime series like Tenchi Muyo!,
Chobits, Hikaru no Go, Initial D, Inu-Yasha, Card Captor Sakura, and more!
We also play music from some of the hottest acts in Japan. This is only a partial list of artists we play.
Ayumi Hamasaki, Globe, Hikaru Utada, Ken Hirai, Misia, Kirito, Mr. Children, Southern All Stars, Gackt, X,
L`arc~en~Ciel, and more!
While playing the best from those two above, we also don't forget about the Japanese Classics, like Anri,
Masahiko Kondo, Kaientai, Chanels, Crystal King, Seiko Matsuda, Tsuyoshi Nagabuchi, TM Network, and more!
So tune in, and know that with the amount of hard experience that our team has in Radio and
Television,
we will bring you the best programming we possibly can. If you would like to help

NOTICE: Our audio servers have moved. Please make sure you use the links from the website to connect to Japan-A-Radio.
Subscriber Login Issues - 04-08-08
It was brought to our attention from several subscribers that the system was not authenticating your
logins. This was a technical glitch that was corrected. Please check to make sure you can access the
subscriber streams, as this was the area that was affected. Thank you for your support.
NETWORK OUTAGE - 12-13-07
There are network wide outages being caused the past couple of days from our main provider. The first outage
was blamed on a failed GBIC on the switch we are on. The rest have all been verifiable DENIAL OF SERVICE
attacks on someone in the facility affecting everyone, including us. There's nothing we can do about this
except get backup services that cost money. To do that, we need your help. We need subscribers. We can't exist
without your support. When outages like this one happen, All services including website, mail, audio
services, are all affected and become intermittant or even not available. We apologize for the interruption in
services, but ask that you please help us out by donating and/or subscribing today to help us out so we can get
a proper backup installed and maintained. If you do nothing, JAR will silently just fall apart and eventually
become just a faded memory. Please help today. Thank you for your support.
Important Server Updates - 12-03-07
Due to rising costs of bandwidth, the free server has been reduced in quality. To get great audio quality, please become a
subscriber. New subscriber only bitrates for Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Titanium plans are broken down for you on the
subscription page. We hope you understand the necessity for this move. We wouldn't make it unless it was the last absolute
resort. We hope this will help defray the costs and keep Japan-A-Radio available for you. If you haven't subscribed or
donated yet, please consider doing so. Your subscription and/or donation goes to help pay the large costs of running
Japan-A-Radio. Thank you!
Battle Of The Bands!
This year, Japan-A-Radio was proud to sponsor Battle Of The Bands at
Ani-Magic in Lancaster, 2007. If you happened to have missed the entire
action and would like to know how the bands performed and who won, stay
tuned to Japan-A-Radio. We will be replaying concerts. Thanks for all
those who participated!

UPDATED: 08/24/07
ALL OF INTERNET RADIO NEEDS YOUR HELP TO SURVIVE.
THE FUTURE OF ALL INTERNET RADIO IS IN IMMEDIATE DANGER!
The Copyright Royalty Board in Washington, DC has more than tripled the royalty rates for webcasters
and if left unchanged they will KILL Internet radio. These exorbitant rates
go into effect on July 15th 2007, recently extended by the CRB (retroactive to Jan 1, 2006!). Without
Congressional action the majority of webcasters will go bankrupt. Though you may have read in
in the news recently SoundExchange offering 'deals' to webcasters, they all limit what webcasters
can and can't do. There has yet to be a good proposal delivered by SoundExchange. The latest deal only
gives you a break if you play their member artists... wait.. isn't that payola? Stop the spin. For good.
The Internet Radio Equality Act NEEDS to be passed for this to all stop. We need
your help. Please take a
moment to CALL your member of Congress to keep Net radio from being
silenced by having them sign on as co-sponsor of the H.R. BILL #2060, The Internet
Radio Equality Act. Please don't delay. Act NOW! If you've done it in the past, do
it again, please. Congress AND Senate NEEDS to hear that this is falling apart and fast, and the solution
is the bill sitting on their desks. Please Visit SaveNetRadio.Org by
clicking here!
August 24th, 2007 - Subscription levels
Please understand, we still need your support to make Japan-A-Radio the best it can be. We know there's a
lot of people listening, but please consider subscriber or donating today. If we got 200 people signed up
for the silver plan, we would be in good shape. 200 people in gold plan would be even better. Please help
us out. We need your support to survive. Thank you.
May 2nd, 2007 - Subcribers
We've been gaining and losing subscribers. It would greatly help us out that if you are cancelling
your subscription, please drop us a note to tell us why or if there is something we could be doing
better. Remember, Japan-A-Radio depends on your input in order to deliver the best services.
April 15th, 2007 - Station Updates
Well, finally, after long checking of equipment and burnin, we are proud
to announce that Japan-A-Radio is now broadcasting from it's new
location. The sound quality will return to it's former glory and some
glitches that were happening by running on the temporary server will no
longer be an issue. Also, look for new episodes of Weekend Blastoff w/
DJ Cruzmissile as he returns to the air this coming Friday, April 20th,
at it's new time of 8PM Eastern/7PM Central! Thank you very much
for your support and patience during this time. We appreciate it
very much.
April 8th, 2007 - Station Outages
Well, we don't really know what happened. The server temporarily hosting JAR just rebooted for no reason. After that, things
were fine for awhile, then it started skipping crap like mad. I was able to run a repair/reinstall on the software that we
are using and it seems to have solved the problem... for now. I hope it doesn't happen again. The Austin, Texas studio is
NOT ready to come back online yet and have things continue like normal with all your favorite shows. Please be patient while
I work to fix all this out. New features will be coming for subscribers soon too, so just keep your eyes to the website, and
your ears to Japan-A-Radio for more details as I can bring them to you. I appreciate your patience, understanding, and your
support. --SE
March 21st, 2007 - Station Updates
We are preparing to move to our new studios. We request your patience during this time. Outages for Japan-A-Radio will be
kept at a minimum just like in the past. During the next two-three weeks, The station may sound slightly different in terms
of Music Rotation. All shows are being put on hiatus until the move is complete. Weekend Blastoff will be returning
immediately after the move is complete. Japan-A-Radio's local time will be changing from Mountain Daylight Time (current) to
Central Daylight Time. During the summer From the second Sunday of March until the First Sunday in November, our times will
be GMT -5. Outside of that time period, our times will be GMT -6. All Wishlist, and donation items should be held and should
not be mailed at this time until we announce otherwise so that we have enough time to make sure everything will be on track.
We will post the new address for donations, wish list, and off line subscription payments as soon as possible. We expect to
have that resolved within the next week or so. Please be patient with us as we make this move. We'll announce more
information as soon as it's available. In the meantime, please enjoy the music, and thank you for listening to
Japan-A-Radio!
March 11th, 2007 - Station Issues
We have been experiencing some weird quirks going on with the studio server tonight/this morning. It might be fixed now, but
we're still watching it the best we can. It's time to move them clocks forward, and that always plays hell with the station,
so we're also watching it closely too. Thanks for being patient!
February 12th, 2007 - Network Issues / Router Upgrade
We had some network issues today that caused an outage for some or all audio services. We believe this issue to be resolved.
We are monitoring the situation, as we always do, for reliability and uptime. Thank you for your patience and support during
this time. We also have installed the new router that was donated to us, finally. Hopefully, this curbs the problems
we are having with another piece of equipment. The only downside is we have even less bandwidth to deal with because
this card for the router only goes up a certain amount which is less than what we would have had on the other piece
of equipment. It just means we've had to change some things around. We really need your help. Please subscribe
today. By subscribing we can all ensure that problems will get less and less by being able to get higher quality
bandwidth lines from the studio to the servers.
January 31st, 2007 - Network Issues
We had some network issues today that caused an outage for some or all audio services. We believe this issue to be resolved.
We are monitoring the situation, as we always do, for reliability and uptime. Thank you for your patience and support during
this time.

We have secured a temporary solution to the bandwidth problem. We're working on a permanent solution. Remember,
subscribing to Japan-A-Radio is quick, secure, and easy.. best of all, no more problems tuning in! Try it today!
Thank you for your support!
December 19th, 2006 - Router Replacement
A gracious donator who has donated in the past has secured a new router for us.
We hope to have everything operational before or shortly after January 1st, 2007. Thank you to all of those who sent in
e-mails. We are still needing a Promise FastTrack Serial ATA Controller for a downed hard drive, if anyone wants details on
that, click on our wishlist! thank you!
November 19th, 2006 - Emergency Maintenance
Our main server needed to under go emergency maintenance this morning between 12:30AM to 6:00AM MST. Changes were
made to make room for more capacity. We also took the time to fix a few lingering problems. We're sorry for any
trouble this has caused you but it was absolutely necessary in order to maintain service. Thank you for your
pateince and support!
November 6, 2006 - Server Failure (Updated)
The server that handles Japan-A-Radio had crashed. The CPU burned up and winked out. The system has been replaced,
but at great cost. Please help us by donating to cover the expenses if you can. We would appreciate it very much.
Since installing the new system we have also revamped our audio processing engine to provide better sound quality.
Please let us know what you think by talking about it in our chatroom network or on the forums, or as always, by
email at feedback at japanaradio dot com. Thank you for your support, and we're sorry for any trouble all this might
have caused you.
October 29, 2006 - Network Issues (Updated)
Our provider that provides our backhaul from the studio to the server has died. It's an area issue they are working on. The
new circuit hasn't been completely installed. We put the JAR on our backup circuit. You may encounter skipping or possible
drops outs or disconnects. This is beyond our control and there is nothing we can do. When the new circuit is fully
installed (it's almost there, say another week from the new provider) then these problems will go away and we will have a 4
hour repair time instead of the 24-48 hours I was given moments ago. I'm not to happy about this situation right now, but I
am keeping JAR online as best as I can through this troubled time. Thank you for your patience and support! -- Shon
October 23, 2006 - Get your game on!
A new feature has been added to the Japan-A-Radio website, under the community box called Japan-A-Radio Games! Like Star
Trek? Were you around in the 80's and 90's when BBSes were big? Did you like Tradewars 2002? Enjoy Blacknova Traders! How
about Fantasy type games? Looking to play against others and battle fantasy creatures like fairies, dragons, gnomes, and
zombies? Play Legend Of THe Green Dragon! All available NOW for Free! Play against Japan-A-Radio Staff and other listeners.
How good will you get? Will you be the one to take over the universe, destroy the dragon, or both?? Show us what you
got!
October 23, 2006 - Network Issues (Updated)
Well, we've decided the current connectivity from the studio to the main backbone server is not going to be good enough.
Thus, we have ordered a new circuit from a new provider. This circuit is gauranteed a 99.9% up time. Our current provider is
having a lot of problems maintaining their backbone. The new monthly cost for this new circuit is going to be $400. Please,
if you haven't subscribed already, please subscribe now to help us defray these costs. This is necessary to continue the
service of Japan-A-Radio with a great reliability which has been lacking over the last 12 months. This line we hope
will be installed within the next two weeks. We have not been given a full installation date, but the studio will be
ready for the line as of October 27th, 2006. Please, please help us out. We can't ask enough. Thank you for your support! --Shon
October 12, 2006 - Network Issues
Somebody was attacking the main JAR server. This caused an outage. We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience, but it is
out of our control. We are investigating on who is doing this, and why.
October 05, 2006 - Network Issues
We were having network issues. We are working to resolve the issue. It may now be corrected, but may reoccur unless I find
out what's causing it. more info later.
September 26, 2006 - Network Issues (Updated)
We lost a core server this afternoon. We have a solution in place to back it up. Please be aware that if you subscribe to
Japan-A-Radio, please use your subscription account to listen to the station, as the public slots had to be downgraded in
order to make this solution successful. We're sorry for the inconvenience, and we thank you for your patience during this
matter.
September 12, 2006 - Network Issues
We are currently experiencing some networking issues with our provider that provides services to our main studios. We expect
this problem to be resolved soon. This unfortunately, knocks Japan-A-Radio off the air. This is out of our control, but we
have been assured by our provider that it will stabelize. We apologize for this inconvenience.

August 7th, 2006 - Beta is ending... - [Comment On This]
Japan-A-Radio TV's beta is ending. We do not know if it will be brought out of beta in to a fully working
state. There has been lots of comments and suggestions regarding it, and for that we thank you. Japan-A-Radio
TV will be available on a basis for live video feeds from Japan-A-Radio itself, offering live streaming video
of the Japan-A-Radio studios during a live broadcast when available. Japan-A-Radio TV is a great idea, but
needs a lot more work on the programming side of things. So until we get it worked out, it's future is
uncertain. This is only applicable to the Video Stream. The radio feed remains unaffected. We hope that
we can return Japan-A-Radio TV to air in the future. Thank you for watching.
August 5th, 2006 - Audio Outage
There was an audio outage this morning early between midnight and 0200
Mountain Time. This was caused by a failing hard drive in our main
studio server. This is actively being replaced now as we speak, and
Audio has been restored with temporary archived programming.
August 2nd, 2006 - Outage
There was an outage this morning at 0400 Mountain Time. This was caused by a cable cut. It has caused the
station to be knocked off the air for 4 hours. Audio services have been restored. Video services are still
down. We will update you as more information becomes available.
June 28th, 2006 - Outage
There was an outage this evening. It was caused by failing hardware. It has been corrected. Unfortunately, it was
down for about 45 minutes. We're not happy about it being down for so long and are of course looking into the
problem..
June 21st, 2006 - Outage
There was an outage this morning. It was caused by failing hardware. It has been corrected. Unfortunately, it was
down for 7 hours. We're not happy about it being down for so long.
June 13th, 2006 - Updates
This update is to reflect that the public servers have been moved from 128kbps to 96kbps. If you would like th 128kbps
stream, it is available still on our subscribers only server. Also, the 2 hour maximum has been lowered to 60 minutes, and
we have removed a large 96kbps relay, and one 10 user relay for Japan-A-Radio TV has been removed, bringing the public
viewers back down to 10. Why is this happening? The cost of running Japan-A-Radio has increased. If you would like to help
out, please consider subscribing today by clicking :here:. If you
do not want to subscribe but want to make a donation to help us out, please click :here: instead.. We're sorry that we have to take these measures and
scale
back our public servers. If you have any questions, you can email us at feedback at japanaradio dot com.
June 6th, 2006 - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Japan-A-Radio turns 5 years old on June 7th, 2006. We've been here satisfying Japanese music fans for 5 years. We hope to be
